I had been craving Peking duck for a while and discovered that there was a well-known place near my home, so I made a reservation and visited. According to Google, this dish requires a one-day advance booking, but due to frequent no-shows, the restaurant requires a confirmation call before your visit to request the duck dish. The reservation confirmation was processed quickly, which was great, and the phone service was also prompt.
The place has a spacious and open feel with an ocean view, and there were plenty of table options, which I appreciated. Since it was a cold day, they turned on the heater for us. Although it was a cloudy day, we were lucky enough to see a rainbow while waiting for our food, which made me happy.
The taste of the Peking duck was excellent. I personally like the leg portion, so I requested it to be cut separately, and they kindly accommodated my request. The dish normally comes with 10 pancakes, but we ordered 6 more. The second course allows you to choose between noodles or rice, and we opted for fried rice. The portion was very large, and it was light and not greasy, which made it taste clean.
As a side dish, we ordered stir-fried mushrooms and bok choy. The seasoning for this dish was a bit disappointing for me personally. However, when paired with the lightly seasoned fried rice, the sauce complemented it well.
One downside was that the server asked us if we wanted to order drinks about seven times, which felt a bit uncomfortable. We had chosen a quiet time to visit, but the atmosphere still felt somewhat chaotic, which was a bit of a letdown for me.
